Greetings to all Cougar Pride Marching Band family members!
It is hard to believe the new school year has launched and we are already experiencing the joy of making music here at Durant. Thank you for your support, and particularly for encouraging your child to continue their study of music. This investment of time, effort and energy will produce lifelong dividends. To all of our new family members, welcome to the CPMB family! I know I speak for everyone when I say that it is a blessing and a privilege to have you with us and hope that you will take an active part in our organization.
Every week throughout the year you will be receiving emails from me entitled, “Weekly Music Notes”. These messages are indented to help keep our large family informed of upcoming events and other pertinent information regarding the CPMB. I would also encourage you to log in to the Charms web page (Charmsoffice.com) for news, to volunteer for any of our events, and for any updates to the CPMB performance calendar. It will take some getting used to but I can assure you that checking Charms will be a huge asset to you and our students.
Here are some upcoming events that I want everyone to be aware of as we get into the full swing of marching season:
CPMB Weekly Rehearsals – This week starts our Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals from 4-7 and 4-8, respectively. Please remember attendance is mandatory for all members of the CPMB. Details regarding our attendance policy can be found in the Student Handbook, which was sent out via Edsby last week. For your convenience, a copy of the Band Program Handbook has also been attached to this email.
Friday, August 17 – NO FOOTBALL GAME: The band does not travel to pre-season games that at hosted at another school. Our first true football game will be next
Friday, August 24 – The CPMBs first official footballat home vs Jesuit. Please check Charms for specific volunteer needs for this event.
Lastly, I know some of you received an email this weekend (which I was not aware was going out) containing information regarding a new policy for collecting uniform rental fees and instrument rental fees via the School District’s MyPaymentsPlus website. If you received an email stating you owe an instrument rental fee, but you own your own instrument, please disregard that email. I will be providing our bookkeeper with a list of names that own your instrument and/or, have already paid this fee. Once that list is received you will be removed from the instrument payment list.
Please note that all members of CPMB (excluding Colorguard) wear an official marching band uniform and will remain on the Uniform Rental list until that fee of $37.45 is paid. Keep in mind that this is a new method of collecting these fees and your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated as the “kinks” are worked out.
Thank you for your continued support of music education here at Durant. I hope you know that each of you play an important role in the continued success of our students. Welcome back and go Cougars!
