Weekly Music Notes 8/30/2017

I hope this message finds everyone well and looking forward to the bands first performance in their new uniforms, this Friday night! I apologize that it has been a couple of weeks since my last “Music Note” but I know the Booster Board has been doing a fantastic job communicating the needs of our band to all of you.

I only have a couple of items I would like to remind everyone about. The first, is that this Saturday, September 2, is HOT Day at USF and Raymond James. Those of you that registered to participate, you will be receiving an email later today with specific information regarding this event. If it looks familiar when you open it, that is because it is the same packet of information I sent out with the registration form a couple of weeks back. Please review it carefully and let me know if you have any questions. Hint: pay close attention to the NFL bag policy!

The second item is to remind all wind and percussion students that all uniform and instrument rental fees must be turned by October 1st. The school will be audited and if these fees are not received by that date, it will reflect negatively on our organization. These fees go to directly to Durant High School and the check or money order should be made out to DHS…NOT THE BOOSTERS. The amount of these fees can be found in the DMB Handbook, which is located on the main documents page of Charms. Again, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

On behalf of the all the students in the CPMB, I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the families that sponsored our first two “Family Dinners”! As you have heard me say many times, these dinners are not only to build camaraderie amongst students and parents, but also to ensure that none of our students ever have to perform through a football game on an empty stomach.  It means the world me and I know it means the world to our kids to have a good meal every Friday. If you are interested in being one of the families to sponsor a Friday Night Meal, please contact Lisa Thomas at dmbsecretary@gmail.com.

In closing and with a heavy, heavy heart I share with all of you that early yesterday morning Melissa Green lost her battle with cancer, and has been called home. I ask that the entire CPMB family keep Caitlyn, Josh, Caleb, Tommy and the rest of the Green family, in your thoughts and or payers. To honor Mrs. Green and show our support to the Green family during this difficult time, the band will be wearing a green ribbon on their uniforms at this Friday’s football game. Those of you that would like to join the band in honoring Mrs. Green, are welcomed and encouraged to do so by also wearing a green ribbon to the game.

Thank you for everything you do for our kids. Have a great week and I hope to see you in the stands on Friday.

Mr. H
