Good evening CPMB Family,
As always, I hope this message finds everyone well and in good spirits. As we approach the last two weeks of the marching band season (it is hard to believe it is already here) I have a few important reminders I want to go over with all of you.
First, click here to find the itinerary for the CPMB’s performance this Saturday for their Florida Bandmasters Association District assessment being held at Riverview High School. Every band in the county will be performing and it is important to keep in mind that this is an evaluation, not a competition. No scores will be given and our performance on Saturday has no affect on our seeding or placement for State Championships. Please read over the attached information carefully and let me know if you have any questions.
Second, this Friday we will be traveling to King High School for our last regular season football game of the year. Because Saturday is a performance day for every high school band in Hillsborough County, both bands will be performing POST game. This will allow both ensembles to perform their shows in its entirety. We will do our best to move quickly after the performance to load the equipment truck and return to DHS as quickly as possible.
Third, next week there will be a slight adjustment to the CPMB’s rehearsal schedule. Next Thursday’s rehearsal (November 10th) is cancelled due to DHS hosting both men’s and women’s soccer matches that evening. However, to make up for this loss, the band will rehearse from 4-7 on Friday, November 11. In addition, we will also host our annual “Friends and Family” performance at 7:30, in the stadium. This provides an opportunity for those family members, who are unable to attend the band’s prelims performance, to see the show in its entirety one last time before the band heads to championships. Please spread the work as our students look forward to this event and would love to perform for a full crowd that evening.
Fourth, I am still waiting on FMBC to send out the finalized schedule for State Championships. Once I receive that information, an email containing the performance schedule as well as an itinerary, will be sent out via Charms. Your patience and cooperation is much appreciated, as there are two possible scenarios that could play out that day. Unfortunately, we will not know which schedule we will be using until the awards ceremony after our prelims performance.
Finally, as we approach the last few weeks of the semester I would encourage you to complete your fall concession credits. Every student in our program is required to have a parent, family member, and or friend work a total of 4 events for the first semester. There are only so many events remaining and I would hate for someone to miss out on the opportunity to volunteer and be charged for these credits. If you have questions regarding these responsibilities, please contact the Booster Board at Dmbboard@gmail.com.
To all the parents and family members that have volunteered and continue to volunteer for all of our events, the students and I thank you!! Please make sure to keep checking Charms for calendar updates as well as to sign up to volunteer. Without everyone working together for our students, it is our students that will suffer.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
