Monday Music Notes 9/26/2016

Good morning CPMB!

I hope all everyone had a wonderful weekend. I know that many of students attended the Homecoming dance on Saturday night and, from what the pictures looked like, had a fantastic time. A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our very own Casey Jack for being nominated to the 2016 Homecoming Court! It was awesome seeing him perform our show in his tuxedo!

I would like to thank all the parents and friends that stayed for the bands post game performance on Friday evening.  I know the members of the band appreciated having an enthusiastic audience to perform for. An additional thank you goes out to the parents that assisted with the Friday night dinner, worked in the concession stand, and helped chaperone. I am convinced the term, “It takes a village” was coined by a band director! I can assure you that your efforts are deeply appreciated by everyone!

Well, we are now only 5 days away from WCI 2016! By this point, everyone should be signed up to work in one of the many, many areas that need volunteers. If you have not yet signed up, please take a moment and do so today. Everyone’s help will be needed to make sure this event runs smoothly and ensure that we provide a stress free performance opportunity for the 2000 performers that will be in attendance. I would also to remind everyone that we are still in need of Pepsi products! Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mist Twist (formerly known as Sierra Mist), Mountain Dew, and Aqua Fina water are all fair game. So find those deals and stock up!

While I know everyone’s attention has been on WCI, I must also direct your attention to the CPMB’s first competitive performance of the year, next Saturday at Newsome. This event has been on the Charms calendar for months so there should be no conflicts. Please remember that these performances are part of our your students grade and are NOT optional. When a student is absent from a performance, not only is undue stress added to the rest of the performers in that section, but it also makes it more difficult for everyone to march their show accurately. We need everyone for every performance in order to achieve our greatest potential. A detailed itinerary will be sent out at the beginning of next week.
