Monday Music Notes 2/1/2016

Good morning CPMB family!

Please help in congratulating all of the DHS students that performed with the Newsome Indoor Percussion Ensemble on Saturday at their FFCC premier! The ensemble took first place with a score 74.55 and is off to a fantastic start. The group’s next performance of “Return of the Scarecrow” will be Saturday, February 27th at Gaither High School. Performance times will be released closer to the event.

Just a few quick reminders for the week ahead (February 1-7):

* Winterguard rehearsals will continue on Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30. Parents — please remember that on Thursday’s (until the end of the season) the color guard will be rehearsing at Mulrennan Middle School.
* The DHS Winterguard (DHSWG) will be performing their show, “2 Pyramids” at Plant City High School on Saturday, February 6th. The guard will take the floor at 11:21 and is once again the last group to perform before the awards ceremony. Admission to the contest is $15 and parking is FREE so, please come out and support our color guard!
* The DHS Wind Ensemble will be welcoming Dr. John Carmichael, the Director of Bands at USF, in their rehearsal this Wednesday from 3:30-5:30. The following Wind Ensemble percussion students need to be in attendance: Austin Fudge, Casey Barnes, Connor Deshong, Ryan Robaus, Alex Martinez, Taylor McMullen and Fernando Rosado.
* There are several concession events on the Charms calendar which we still need volunteers for…PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE sign up and support our students!
* Please take a moment and check out www.durantmusic.com!! This is the new official website for the Durant Instrumental Music program. I think all of you will really like the layout!
* Next Tuesday is our February booster meeting…BE THERE!!

I hope everyone has a great week and enjoys this years Super Bowl match up of Peyton Manning versus Cam Newton! It is sure to be an exciting contest!
