Monday Music Notes 1/25/16

Good morning CPMB family!

The DHS music program had yet another fantastic week of rehearsals and performances! Last Wednesday was the Wind Ensemble’s first after school rehearsal of the year and, I can say with 100% confidence that this ensemble is going to be tremendous. Then on Thursday night, the DHS Winterguard gave two outstanding performances of their show, “2 Pyramids”. The winterguard’s weekend was topped off with a 2nd place finish at their FFCC premiere competition on Saturday at Gaither High School! If you missed the guard’s performance on Thursday and didn’t make it out to Gaither on Saturday, you can catch their next performance Saturday February 6th at Plant City High School. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed!

In addition, our students that performed with All County honor ensembles gave two incredible concerts at Armwood on Saturday evening. The level of performance displayed was remarkable after only a day and a half of rehearsal. I received nothing but rave reviews from the clinicians regarding our student’s professionalism and preparation. I would also like to congratulate the following students for auditioning and being accepted to perform with the Bay Winds: Martin Devorss, Zach Elnahwy, Amanda Fahie, Joshua Green, James Griffin, Nathan Roscoe, & Shaunticlair Ruiz.

Coming up this week the wind ensemble will rehearse on Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 and the color guard will rehearse on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30-8:30. On Saturday, Casey Barnes, Connor Deshong, Kevin Gleason, Eduardo Lucas, Taylor McMullen and Sarah Strike will be performing with the Newsome Indoor Percussion line at their FFCC premier at Oviedo High School in Orlando. The ensemble will take the floor at 7:00 in the Oviedo gym. If you are unable to make it out to this show, the rest of the group’s performance dates are on our Charms calendar. The show is entitled, “Return of the Scarecrow” and I urge you to try and attend at least one performance…the show is pretty incredible!

As always, please keep checking the Charms calendar for updates and or to sign up to work one of the many concession events we have coming up. Should you have any questions regarding the calendar or any of the concession events, please don’t hesitate to contact the boosters or me via email. Thank you again for time and dedication to our students. Have a great week!!

Warmest Regards,

Mr. H
